Homemade Pizza

What you need:

  •  1 packet active dry yeast
  •  1 cup warm water (about 105-110 degrees)
  •  2 cups flour
  •  1 tsp sugar
  •  1/2 tsp salt
  •  2 tbsp olive oil
  •  pizza sauce or any tomato sauce
  •  mozzarella cheese (best if fresh, store leftovers in a container or bag with some water)
  •  fresh sliced tomatoes
  •  fresh chopped basil
  •  any toppings desired

How to make this:

DOUGH

  1. Dissolve the yeast in the warm water. It should take about 10-15 minutes to fully dissolve.
  2. Mix together the flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the yeast and olive oil to the flour mixture.
  4. Mix together to form the dough. It should mixed well enough that the dough is somewhat sticky.
  5. Cover bowl of dough with a wet towel and leave for at least a half hour.

PIZZA
  1. Roll or stretch dough to desired size and thickness. You can make one large pizza or many small ones.
  2. Cover dough with sauce, cheese, tomatoes, basil, and any other toppings. For added taste, brush the crust with melted butter and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
  3. Bake on parchment paper at 350 degrees for a chewy crust or 425 degrees for a crispy crust. Pizza can also be grilled on greased foil on indirect heat. At 350, the pizza should take 20-25 minutes. At 425, it should take 12-18 minutes. Baking times will vary depending on pizza size and toppings chosen.
