What you need:
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water (about 105-110 degrees)
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- pizza sauce or any tomato sauce
- mozzarella cheese (best if fresh, store leftovers in a container or bag with some water)
- fresh sliced tomatoes
- fresh chopped basil
- any toppings desired
How to make this:
DOUGH
- Dissolve the yeast in the warm water. It should take about 10-15 minutes to fully dissolve.
- Mix together the flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add the yeast and olive oil to the flour mixture.
- Mix together to form the dough. It should mixed well enough that the dough is somewhat sticky.
- Cover bowl of dough with a wet towel and leave for at least a half hour.
PIZZA
- Roll or stretch dough to desired size and thickness. You can make one large pizza or many small ones.
- Cover dough with sauce, cheese, tomatoes, basil, and any other toppings. For added taste, brush the crust with melted butter and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Bake on parchment paper at 350 degrees for a chewy crust or 425 degrees for a crispy crust. Pizza can also be grilled on greased foil on indirect heat. At 350, the pizza should take 20-25 minutes. At 425, it should take 12-18 minutes. Baking times will vary depending on pizza size and toppings chosen.
